Cary Morgan Frates Cary grew up in the Pacific Northwest and attended the University of Washington, where she majored in history and French. After spending a semester abroad at the University of Avignon, she made France her home, thriving on the culture, history and richness of life in Provence. She repatriated after five years, met and married her husband, and together they have returned to the Northwest to raise their children. Cary has won several awards for her writing, including first and second place wins for the Mainstream Novel with Romantic Elements category of the Golden Rose Contest, a top ten finalist award in the Pacific Northwest Writers’ Conference Zola Awards Literary Contest, and a semi-finalist win in the William Faulkner Creative Writing Competition. She has traveled throughout the United States, Caribbean and Europe, with sailing adventures in St. Vincent & the Grenadines and the Greek Islands. But always, her heart is drawn back to southern France and most especially to Avignon. Besides her fiction, Cary has edited the memoirs of her great-great grandfather, first penned during the California/Nevada Gold Rush era. Her professional affiliations include the Romance Writers of America (PRO member) and the Pacific Northwest Writers’ Association. She is also an accomplished painter, who enjoys emulating the Old Masters.
